HONEY BROOK HEALTH
2015-2021
ROCHESTER, NEW YORK + CANTON, NEW YORK
Old Website Logging from 2015-2018 (Link below)
Official company store and services website was deactivated in 2021
POSITION | OWNER, OPERATOR, COMPANY FOUNDER
EXPERIENCES
Honey Brook Art and Wellness began in 2015 and evolved into Honey Brook Health by 2021. Honey Brook Health specialized in one of a kind, handcrafted, eco-friendly- health promoting products and services.
HBH started with educational workshops for kids and adults on papermaking, book making and binding, and wood block carving printmaking techniques, in addition to one-of-a-kind wood block carving prints and handmade journals and cards for direct sale.
Upon discovering I had high levels of lead and mercury in 2017, I was on a mission to eliminate as many toxins and chemicals from my life and those in my orbit, as well as customers who would be the recipients of my products. My journals were already adhesive-free, entirely made of natural materials that could be burned and returned to the earth if needed. I was inspired to purchase 50lbs of local beeswax and began making my own hand-crafted, non-toxic, lead-free, pure beeswax candles.
I also created BeeBlaze Firestarters, another non-toxic, eco-friendly product with the cut offs from all other processes within my business, beeswax, shredded paper, wax and thread bits, and wood dust from a local woodworker who made custom wooden lids for my USA made amber glass candle edition.
I sold all of these products directly at events, through local store fronts in Rochester, and online through my company website. I could hardly ever
Eventually, upon earning my health coaching certification in all three life stages through the Dr. Sears Wellness Institute and my RKC Kettlebell certificate through RKC/Dragon Door- I folded health coaching services and strength and conditioning coaching into HBH in addition to the handcrafted, non-toxic products
I worked with countless local businesses, private, public and non-profit. Running my own business for almost six years taught me a lot about design and development, marketing, customer service, determination, passion, and constantly adapting and evolving as I changed and as the world changed with the pandemic and more.
